1) New chemistries and goal-directed material manipulations for capacity enhancement, stability improvement, and high power anodes and cathodes for Alkali ion and Alkali metal batteries.

  • Synthesize reduced graphene oxide (rGO) wrapped high aspect ratio 1-dimensional SbSe nano-structure with impressive Na+ anode performance.

 

  • Working on mixed anion Transition-metal sulphate-phospahte system for cathode application in Na ion battery.

 

  • Developed a Si-Phosphorene nano-composite material for efficient Si stabilization as an anode in Li-ion battery.
  • Employed custom ex-situ XRD, XPS, and AFM coupled with Electrochemical experiments to investigate the role of crystallographic orientation on Lithiation behavior.
  • Electrode engineering for the Seeded growth, Guided deposition, and surface homogenized alkali ion diffusion for stable Li/Na platting

 

2) Electro-catalysis with a particular focus on electrochemical HER, OER, ORR, and CO2 reduction, using nano-materials.

Research Associate: Indian Institute of Science Education and Research Pune (Advisor: Prof. Satish Ogale)

  • Advanced energy storage systems for hybrid electric vehicles.
  • Demonstrated that the F-doped carbon nano-onion film prepared by laser carbonization of PVDF film depicts an efficient and stable Li metal anode performance.
  • Analyzed  commercial prospects of state of the art conversion type anode materials for alkali-ion batteries and proposed possible research directions to elevate their status
  • Analyzed the prospects of different Hard carbons for sodium-ion battery anodes with a focus on the storage mechanisms and synthesis strategies.

 

Graduate Research: National Chemical Laboratory CSIR-NCL

Thesis: Targeted Synthesis of Functional Soft and Hard Carbons from Bio-waste and Natural Products for Supercapacitor and Battery Applications.

  1. Fabrication and material design for different types of supercapacitor configurations.
  2. Worked on material and device engineering aspects of three types of supercapacitor configurations namely symmetric, pseudo, asymmetric with a focus on the porous carbon developed from cost-effective precursors.
  3. Studied the  Na-ion battery anode credentials of  hard carbon material derived walnut shell 
  4. Studied different templating strategies for the development of porous carbon for electrochemical energy storage.
